This Grade II* listed building is set among its own park land, close to the village of Bretby. It is the former home of Lord Carnarvon, famous for discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922 with Howard Carter. Since then, Bretby Hall has gone on to become a hospital, before falling derelict in the 1970s.
Project Description
Restoration Projects was responsible for managing the internal restoration of Bretby Hall, converting it into luxury apartments. We restored a once-grand building to its former glory with a modern twist. The external works involved a full roof restoration where we needed to replace all the sand-cast lead. We also carried out stone repairs to all facades, and the restoration of all existing windows. Working closely with architects Brownhill Hayward Brown of Lichfield, English Heritage, and the conservation officer, the Abbey was restored to its former beauty.
